Almost everyone keeps notes, but mostly they are transient, fleeting or scratch notes. I have written notes for years, mostly for myself, but the accumulation of half-written bits and pieces, scattered across files and devices has always been a mess.
After much reflection I've realised that writing notes in public is a better process. It acts as a forcing function to improve my thinking:
* Notes are written to be read, and thus written well
* Notes must be organised to be discovered, and thus linked well
Generally, [[writing atomic notes improves thinking]], so writing publicly in this way should have a compounding impact over time. Overall, the benefits should accrete not only to the reader, but also to me as the writer.
